Resources for Current Students

Whether this is your first semester at Gulf Coast State College or you're a returning student, we are glad you chose to start or complete your academic career with us. Welcome!

Understand the Essentials

Get started on the right foot this semester by taking time to familiarize yourself with the academic resources that will be important to you during your career.

The academic calendar helps you keep track of when to register for classes, class start dates, fees deadlines, exam schedules, student breaks, when your grades will be available and other important deadlines. You should keep this page bookmarked and check the dates frequently.
The events calendar helps you keep you up-to-date with campus and community events, club activities and other important information to keep you in the loop.
Once logged into myGCSC, select the My Student Dashboard tile to search courses, register for classes, check your financial aid status, pay/check bill, view grades, student records, and more! The option to search and register for courses using College Scheduler or Lighthouse (student portal) are available under “Registration” on My Student Dashboard.
If you are taking online classes, you will become familiar with Canvas, Gulf Coast’s adopted online learning environment. Canvas is where you will review online course lessons, interact with your professor and classmates, submit assignments, take exams, and more. Visit Online Learning to learn more about Canvas and how to get started.
Gulf Coast’s Student Handbook contains a lot of information you may need when attending GCSC. You can find class registration information, records and transcripts, key dates and deadlines, the Student Code of Conduct and other policies that impact you, student advising, student resources and campus services.
The Gulf Coast State College Catalog provides information about admissions procedures for Gulf Coast State College. This includes things such as residency requirements for the State of Florida, academic advising, degree requirements, courses and descriptions, academic standards, student support services, tutoring, grades, the student portal and student email.

Visit Campus Safety to sign up for Gulf Coast Alert System and familiarize yourself with safety services and resources on each of Gulf Coast’s campuses.

If you have questions and can’t find the answers, ask someone on staff! Your admissions counselor, advisor, program coordinator, instructor and professors are all here to help you!
